The former friend of humanity - especially of magicians- has turned into one of their toughest friends a long time ago; The races were used to helping each other to satisfy each others needs, but humanity started to make fun of the about 16 inch big salamanders with their harmless-looking leathery black skin. Humanity always liked sending their salamander-friends on dangerous quests, for instance searching for some rare herb for their potion, because salamanders body parts regrow within a very short time - they can loose a leg and within minutes they will have another one in it's place. As salamanders are elemental magicians - mainly of fire - they were often sent into areas around volcanoes or other hot areas to for instance collect some of the rare earth inside this worlds volcanoes. Salamanders rarely died during the time they were in peace with humanity, and their gifts were missused; humanity started to enslave them. But then something happened, what humanity would have never expected - the salamanders started to fight them. The first human to die under salamander-attack was the king. That was, how the first war between humans and salamanders erupted. If a human would see a single salamander, he would chop it into pieces, till it can't recover from it's wounds - But salamanders rarely travel alone. Salamanders attacked human villages, and none of them recovered fully from the attacks, as they were mainly burnt down to the last house. Salamanders even attacked the laboratories of humanity and their libraries. A building, which magicians were proud of - the laboratory of the art of healing, as it was called - was burnt down until it was no more than a pile of ash. And from that day onwards, magicians started to leave their passive studies behind and study anything, with which they could find and kill their former friends. Some magicians also want to collect the tissue they can get out of salamanders, but most of them just want revenge.
